There are a whole lot of bacteria that is spread which includes salmonella,  streptococcus and staphylococcus. Cockroaches disease spreading habits may also go as far as to harbour such viruses as Polio.

Common Australian varieties include the German, Smokey-Brown and American cockroaches.
American cockroaches and smokey brown are large and brown/black. German cockroaches are smaller and light brown with too parallel stripes on the pronotum.
Cockroaches will eat rubbish and a wide range of food, typically breeding in sewers and other unhealthy places. A number of diseases including salmonella and gastroenteritis may be spread to humans. Roaches may also cause allergies, even after they have died.
The common cockroach may also harbour such viruses as polio.  Food spills on your floor to even faecal matter are delicious to cockroaches. They often vomit and defaecate on you food, so don’t hesitate to remove them from your home as soon as possible!
